NWU Pattern I is basically the Marine Pattern uniform with a different camouflage pattern (consisting of black, blue, and two shades of gray). It does not have Marine colors in it.
There is an NWU Pattern II, which was designed to be the new Desert Uniform. That's the one mentioned that the Marines won't let us wear. It's restricted to a very few select units. The Navy is currently trying to figure out a new plan to get a desert-capable uniform out to the fleet, since the old DCUs are going away, and it sucks to wear Army ACUs when you are in the Sandbox (trust me on this. Though it was cool to have all the pockets available).
So no, we have our new blue camouflage, and it won't be replaced by brown ones anytime soon. Sigh.
